Meet the Instructors

Kathy Routh has been teaching math at Ridgely Middle School for fourteen years. She has taught the entire math curriculum from Math 6 through Algebra II.  Mrs. Routh feels that Camp is the perfect way to reinforce and strengthen basic math skills which are so essential in increasing a child’s confidence and success.   Using games and manipulatives, she creates a learning environment that is fun as well as productive.  Students return to school in the fall more comfortable with math after having attended camp. Mrs. Routh is the mother of three children and lives in Lutherville.

Veronica Altvater serves as Guidance Chairperson at Ridgely where she has worked for the past thirteen years. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a Maryland Teaching Certificate. Ms. Altvater lives in Parkton and is the mother of two children.  She has taught both elementary school and middle school English and Social Studies. Students at Brush-Up Camp hone their Written Language and Reading Comprehension skills in an environment that increases students' confidence and enjoyment of Language Arts. During Camp, students'  have the opportunity to  learn in a nurturing and relaxed environment and identify their own strengths and weaknesses.
