CHESS CAMP–Youth
SUMMER 2008
Lutherville Timonium Recreation Council

For boys and girls: Age 8 (entering 3rd)-Age 16  
For beginning and experienced players
9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Mon.-Fri. at Lutherville Lab (Elementary) Activity Room

Session 1: July 7-11        
Session 2: July 14-18     Session 3: July 21-25

Make your move and capture some fun this summer with chess! This camp is designed to teach and improve your game of chess with a strong foundation of the game's fundamentals. Instruction includes various checkmates, draws and stalemates, tactics, the end game, and opening development of pieces. Camp instructors include Senior Master William “The Exterminator” Morrison, Arkadi Frankel, and Cockeysville Middle School Chess coach, Glenn Segal.

Registration Donation:
$180 for 1 week
$ 340 for 2 weeks.       
$500 for 3 weeks

Strategy/Tactics Sessions / Game Analysis / Daily Games

Ridgely LTRC Chess Club:

For beginner and experienced players in grades 6th-8th. Meets Thursdays after school, from 2:45-3:45, from Sept. to Spring 2007. Instruction, play and interschool tournament competitions. Contact Deborah Buffalin, buffalin@bcpl.net for more information.

Cockeysville LTRC Chess Club:

Play Chess at Lutherville Laboratory (Elementary) after school on Thursdays. Limited registration, older grades only. Includes chess instruction and playing in tournaments with other schools. Contact Deborah Baker 410-560-6353 for more information.

Hampton LTRC Chess Club:

Play Chess at Hampton Elementary School on Tuesdays, during school year, 2005-2006. Limited registration, older grades only. Contact Ellen Birkenthal 410-823-7382 for more information.
