Players, Parents, Sponsors
and Volunteers,
Welcome to another great season of Lutherville-Timonium Baseball. Because of the passion, countless hours of volunteer work and affinity for youth baseball, our membership is able to continue offering one of the premier youth baseball programs in Baltimore County. This year we have over 560 players, ages 5-18, which will field over 50 in-house teams and 7 travel teams.
"The objective of
the Association shall be to implant in the youth of the community high ideals of good
sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and courage as well as baseball fundamentals. The
objectives will be achieved by providing supervised, competitive contests. The supervisors
will bear in mind that the teaching of good sportsmanship and high ideals is of prime
importance."
I'm proud to say
that every member of the board is ambitious in maintaining this objective. What we
ask of you is that managers, coaches, parents and fans assist us in reaching this
objective by exhibiting the type of behavior we would like to see from our youngsters
and leading by example. There is a Sportsmanship Committee, appointed by The Board,
in place to assist the program by promoting and enforcing these ideals.
Under the guidance
of our Umpire-in-Chief, we are also proud to maintain a unique youth umpire development
program. The program includes eight hours of classroom instruction, a written test and
a field test. This program gives our young people, age 13 and over, the opportunity to
learn the rules of the game and become more proficient in making decisions by mentoring
them and giving them the guidance necessary to help them mature. Please show your respect
to the umpires by offering your encouragement and support.
The success of our
program is due to the outstanding effort of our board members, the Recreation and Parks
staff, the many volunteers, the players, the parents and those that offer financial
assistance. In other words YOU!!
We are especially
grateful to all the sponsors and patrons who have made generous donations to the program.
Without this financial support the program would have to increase fees in order to
provide umpires and purchase the necessary equipment such as uniforms, baseballs and
other miscellaneous equipment necessary to maintain the program.
Under the direction
of our Fundraising Chair, we were able to exceed our expectations and a successful
fundraising program was once again able to help keep costs down. The sponsors and
patrons are listed on the back cover of the LTRC Schedule. This schedule booklet is
distributed to all players, coaches and managers. In addition, sponsors will see their
banners displayed at the games after picture day which is scheduled for Saturday,
April 19th. We ask that you show your appreciation by supporting our sponsors whenever
possible.
I encourage anyone
with ideas to email me at Scott.Shipley@comcast.net.
We are continuously looking for improvements to the program and this is one avenue to get your
ideas in for consideration.
Thank you for your support. Now
let's PLAY BALL!!!
